Frequently Asked Questions

  • Materials

  • What materials do you use for your jewelry?

    Metals

All our jewelry is made from 950 Fine Silver. But more specifically: The Midas Line features 24k Yellow Gold of 4+ microns (creating a thicker than traditional gold-plating). The Hephestos Line is oxidized using black Rhodium. There is no nickel present in our jewelry. All our jewelry is Sealed with Palladium.

    Stones

We have a stunning selection of real gemstones handpicked to perfectly unite with the design you like. Currently, we use: Peridot, Citrine, Pearl, London Blue Topaz, Aquamarine, and Amethyst. Some of our designs also have a real, brilliant cut diamond. Please refer to the individual product descriptions for more detail.

    Pearls

Our pearls, like all our stones, have been handpicked to perfectly match in size and style of your jewel. We use White Freshwater pearls in 3 different sizes: 6-6.5mm, 7-7.5mm, and 8-8.5mm. Their natural shade is untreated by any chemical process, and will never discolor or fade if cared for properly.

  • What is the difference between 950 Purity Silver and the more commonly used 925 silver?

We have decided to use the highest possible purity of silver that would allow us to make our jewelry durable enough and not include the metals used to create the standard 925. We DO NOT use nickel to mix our silver, as it is forbidden by European Law due to skin allergies and other health reasons.
  • What does "Sealed with Palladium" mean?

To give longer lasting durability and shine to our silver creations and to prolong any erosion of silver happening, we use the precious metal "palladium" over our jewelry. Palladium will create a protective seal over the 950 silver metal. This seal of palladium because of its deep molecular base, does not allow air and water to come into direct contact with the silver. Palladium does not react with the oils of our skin, as did the use of nickel in the past.
  • What is "Yellow Gold 4.5 micron plating"?

Standard gold plating is 0.5 to 1.0 micron. We at Yianni Creations implement a 4.5 gold micron plating to ensure the longer-lasting effect of the gold. Though this process is costly and time-consuming it gives us and our clients' great satisfaction to enjoy our jewelry, looking as new, for a longer time. The jewelry that is mostly affected by the gold plating to fade through time, are rings and at some point bracelets. The greater the friction of the gold plated surfaces with other surfaces the faster the fading.

  • Do you use real diamonds?

Yes, they are real diamonds. They are NOT cubic zirconia or lab-created.

  • Where is your jewelry made?

All our jewelry is made on the island of Rhodes in Greece, in our workshop. Our technicians are 2nd generation fine jewelry craftsmen.

  • What do you mean by “Made-to-Order”?

Once your order is placed on our system, our administration team will check for any special notes/requests and then forward the order to our workshop. Once received, our craftsmen will start creating it, by cutting the exact size, burning the edges, applying the rhodium or 24kt gold on the edges and preparing the setting of the stone(s), if so requested. Once this process is finished, it will go through a series of polishing stages and will be checked for any defects or details needing further attention.

  • Will my ring tarnish?

All our pieces are treated with Palladium to protect them from the elements, however, any jewelry made with Silver may tarnish slightly over time.

  • How can I keep my jewelry gleaming for years to come?

Proper care will keep your jewelry beautiful and sparkly for years to come. Keep in mind that when engaging in physical activities it’s best to keep your jewelry somewhere safe and sound. Exposing your Jewelry to lotions, perfumes, make-up etc may cause it to react. If you notice that your jewelry needs cleaning, you can freshen it with warm, soapy water or a non-acid based jewelry cleaner.
